How to Memorialize a Pet?

dog memorialized as portrait made of cremated remains

“The portraits that I create out of the cremated remains of pets thematize and transform the notion of likeness, the aboriginal purpose of portraiture: to keep the dead among us in charged ceremonial artifacts.” Heide Hatry, founder of Icons in Ash

The experience of people who live with an Anima in Ash portrait suggests a consolatory effect and a feeling of continuing memorialization of their beloved pet.

Our exclusive, recently patented transfer process was perfected over years of experimenting for our Ash-transfer Pet Portaits.

We create a subtly textured surface out of ash particles, onto which we transfer the portrait image. These cremation keepsakes are enduring work of art that captures the spirit of your beloved pet in its vibrant yet soothing presence. Contained in a secure wooden shadow-box frame equipped with glass protection.

All we need is a small amount of cremated remains (about two ounces, we’d send you a mailing kit, that makes it clear and easy) and a photograph (guidelines for how to select the photo can be found on our order form)
